Central Union Elementary School District
April 7, 2016

Central Union Elementary School District is currently engaged in labor contract negotiations with the Central Union Elementary Teacher’s Association for 2015-2016. Negotiations are in the Impasse phase and the parties are following California law and will be mediating their disputes on April 8, 2016 with a neutral State provided mediator. The law also provides for other procedures if an agreement cannot be reached through mediation.

The District has offered the following:

  1. Salary increase of 3.65% for all teachers. This will place them as the highest paid teachers in Kings County K-12 schools except for one pay cell for the most senior teachers on the salary schedule.

  2. An increase in the District’s contribution to health benefits for teachers from $12,105.00 to $15,129.00 annually. This is the highest contribution of all K-12 schools in Kings County by $1,100 for the next district and provides for a fully funded 80/20 health care plan.

  3. A one time payment of $300 per month for 8 months, $2,400 total, from September 2015 for what could have been applied to health benefits teachers selected in September 2015.

  4. The total offer is equivalent to a 7% increase in compensation.
